Use Holiday Deals to Get a Superbowl TV Early

The Superbowl is only a few months away, and there’s nothing quite like watching it on a big screen television. Now is a great time to invest in that big TV you’ve been dreaming of. Holiday sales offer exceptional value, if you keep a few things in mind.

Black Friday Deals
Black Friday (the Friday right after Thanksgiving) is historically one of the biggest shopping days of the year, and retailers know it. They offer deep discounts on electronics in order to entice shoppers into their stores instead of into the competition’s locations. TVs do tend to sell out early, so it pays to get up with the sparrows.

Cyber Monday Sales
Black Friday isn’t the only day for great deals, especially if you’re the type of person who doesn’t like crowds. Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving) is a major day for Internet shopping, and, according to the Latin Times, many retailers offer deals as good (sometimes even better) than those they offer in their brick-and-mortar locations.

Christmas Sales
Black Friday and Cyber Monday may be big shopping days, but there’s always the possibility that the store will be out of the TV you want before you get there. If you don’t find the television you want by the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, don’t worry. Retailers have plenty of Christmas sales leading up to the holiday, and you can shop during weekday mornings or later in the evenings if you want to avoid crowds. With more time to browse, you can also negotiate for deals on floor models or items with dented boxes.

Getting the Best Deal
Getting a great deal on a TV doesn’t mean much if it breaks right before your Superbowl party (or even before you’ve finished watching “It’s a Wonderful Life with the kids on Christmas morning). According to CNET, the best LCD and plasma TV brands are Sony, Sharp, and Panasonic. Not all TVs made by these companies are the same, however, so do your research before shopping and know which ones you want to focus on.

Shopping Safety
Every year the news reports people hurt during Black Friday sales. Though the odds of something happening are low, it’s always a good idea to take precautions. Shop with a buddy so you can look out for each other – and don’t let your emotions get out of control. No matter how good a deal is, it isn’t worth fighting over and risking serious injury (or worse). Also, make sure not to strain your back trying to carry items that are too heavy for you.

To avoid the danger of robbery, the National Crime Prevention Council recommends that you avoid leaving your packages unattended. Lock them in the trunk of your car or cover them with a blanket. While in the store, keep your purse or wallet close to your body or use a money belt. If shopping with children, make a plan about what to do if you get separated; children should know who to ask for help and where to go if they get lost.

For more information about how to get a great deal on a TV you can use to watch the big game (not to mention all your favorite holiday programming), check your favorite retailer’s sales circulars, do you research online, and keep your head on the day you go shopping. That way, you’ll get a good deal, and get home in one piece.  Finally, make sure you’ve selected the best cable TV deals you can find so watching the big game will be easy.
